Diary Entry – 16 September 2020

Your beautiful smile 15 Sept 2020

My beautiful baby princess, you continue to grow and do new things each day! How amazing and wonderful it is for me to see how you advance and learn 💕
I think I will always love watching you – watch you feed, play and sleep. I relish in each moment the Lord has given us and making memories I can cherish forever.

When you wake up on your own, and you aren’t too hungry, I get to experience the most beautiful smiles – it makes my day!
Yesterday marked the 15th week from birth. On the 13th it was also mommy and daddy’s wedding anniversary, 7 years married. Time goes too fast…
My maternity leave is almost over. I have really been concerned about it, for a number of reasons. I really want to spend as much time as I can with you, I know I wrote it before, I want to experience your firsts.
You have not liked a dummy or a bottle at all, I am concerned about your feeding. I have to always stop and recall and meditate on the promises of God.
I requested to work from home. My boss came back saying he would be willing to allow me to do that twice a week. I then requested to work as a consultant, to ensure I get to be home with you.
I leave it prayerfully with my Creator, who knows all and has everything under control, He knows what is best and I pray for peace and strength for whatever comes next.

You have really not at all liked a dummy thus far. The no-bottle feeding has also been challenging, I have been feeling like I need this in place if I am to go back to the office. Also, Daddy has wanted to be a part of that bonding too, to hold you and feed you. Other family members have also wanted to do this too, at the moment, it’s just you and me…. Oumi and Nanna say it will be beneficial for me if you can take to a bottle, so that I can get a bit of a break too. To be honest, I love nursing you! What a wonderful and amazing privilege!
Daddy will try tonight again though. 😘

Going back to one of my favorite sites: Pumping at Work: Tips for Working Moms Pumping at the Office (whattoexpect.com) trying to gain as much knowledge to have a gameplan as well.
Baby City often have magazines, I got a breastfeeding guide during covid handbook as well.
I also always revert back to my Bellybabies book received from the breastfeeding consultant. Here is some useful info about storing breastmilk.

There are numerous different sites, books and info out there for breastfeeding. I try not to get caught up in it too much, it can feel overwhelming as a mommy, we often doubt if we are doing things right. There’s a lot of pressure felt by mothers with all the different advice and stigmas. Healthcare continues to change and suggestions are always out there. At the end of the day, each mom and tot are different, and one has to get down to what is best for each individual. I am very blessed to be able to breastfeed you, and I will cling to that for now!
It is only by God’s wisdom and grace that I can be the best mom that I can be for you. After all, he entrusted us with your precious life, He will ensure we have all we need to bring you up according to His will!

Some breast feeding items I use (and loved):
Intelligent Double Electric Breast Pump from Takealot

Nipple cream from Clicks

Bible verses in my book:
1 John 3:1 See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!
Luke 11:28 “Blessed are all who hear the Word of God and put it into practice.”
